Difference Between “Close Applications” and “Close Post”

Nate Sarr Updated by Nate Sarr

When managing your job postings, you’ll see two options: Close Applications and Close Post. While they may sound similar, they serve different purposes depending on what you want to do with your posting.

Close Applications

Choosing Close Applications means:

  • New applicants can no longer submit proposals.
  • You can still view and review existing applications.
  • You may continue to message applicants, make offers, or shortlist candidates.
  • You have the flexibility to reopen applications later if you want to receive more proposals.

Best for: When you’ve received enough applications and want to pause new submissions but still need time to review and decide.

Close Post

Choosing Close Post means:

  • The job posting is permanently closed.
  • New applicants cannot apply, and you cannot reopen the post.
  • You can no longer review applications in the post.
  • Applicants who weren’t accepted may be notified that the job is closed.

Best for: When the position is filled, cancelled, or no longer relevant.
