Send from your custom address in Thunderbird

First add your existing destination inbox to Thunderbird using that provider's normal sign-in process. Incoming messages remain in that inbox. Then add a separate outgoing server and identity for your custom address:

  1. Open Account Settings → Outgoing Server (SMTP) → Add.
  2. Use smtp.improvmx.com, port 587, STARTTLS, authentication Normal password, and your full custom email address as the username. Give the server a recognizable description, such as your custom address.
  3. Select your existing inbox in Account Settings. Open Manage Identities → Add, enter your name and custom email address, and select the outgoing server you just created. Save the identity.
  4. Compose a message and select your custom address in From. On the first send, enter the SMTP password from Kavyar's secure link when prompted. Save it in your client's password manager if desired.
  5. Send to a different inbox, check the sender and reply address, and test a reply.

Keep the original inbox identity using its original outgoing server. The custom SMTP credentials authenticate only your custom address. Menu names can vary by Thunderbird version; the steps above describe desktop Thunderbird.

See the custom email overview for incoming-mail and secure-link help.
